How do I add custom questions for my AI to ask?

Beyond the standard information, you can add custom questions specific to your business needs.

Steps to add custom questions

  1. Go to Receptionist Settings in the menu

  2. Find the Details to Ask section

  3. Make sure Job Details is enabled

  4. Scroll to Custom Questions

  5. Type your question in the input field

  6. Click Add

  7. Your question is added to the list

Managing custom questions

  • Add: Enter text and click Add

  • Remove: Click the X next to any question

  • Reorder: Questions are asked in the order shown

Tips for effective custom questions

Good questions:

  • "Do you have off-street parking available?"

  • "Is this for a residential or commercial property?"

  • "Do you have any specific brand preferences?"

  • "Will someone be home to let us in?"

Avoid:

  • Questions already covered by standard options

  • Yes/no questions that don't give useful detail

  • Multiple questions combined into one

Category-specific default questions

Your AI already asks questions relevant to your business category. These appear under "Example questions asked by default" and include things like:

  • Plumbers: "What's the issue you're experiencing?"

  • Photographers: "What type of event is this for?"

  • Cleaners: "How many rooms need cleaning?"

You can use the category defaults in addition to your custom questions, or disable them.
